Introduction

The Goat Trust is a pro poor professionally managed techno managerial resource organization catering to building sustainable and resilient livestock-based livelihood since 2008. With the purpose to transform small livestock value chain through financially self-sustainable model in poverty pockets of Gautam Budh Nagar, The Goat Trust has joined hands with JubiliantBharatia Foundation and in the initial days have established strong roots for sustainable development of the project scope and mission.

Project Background

The present project involving partnership of The Goat Trust and Jubiliant Bharatia Foundation is spread across Dadri and Jevar blocks of Gautam Budh Nagar. 2500 farmers is aimed to impact from the project outcome by service provision and marketing support through 50 Pashusakhis. Major Impact outcomes is expected to be in terms of Breed transformation to most productive Breed promotion, Marketing Supply chain establishment and Awareness generation among goat farmers on best practices and means of sustainable income generation.

The project commenced on field with effect from 15 June 2022. Proactive project staff had screened the location, set up their office and strategized by June 1st. Villages were identified and using objective criteria, 50 Villages were selected where 12 Community Livestock Managers (CLMs) were identified, interviewed and finally 6 selected with provision for 2 Artificial Insemination workers in the coming month. The CLMs were given 15 day residential training at Lucknow Head Office of The Goat Trust and post training would be deployed to identify and select pashusakhis in their respective locations and also education of farmers through promotion of 16 best practices through meetings and learning tools.
